Fujisan from Hakone

Hakone, Kanagawa

Breathtaking view from mount Hakones peak Komagatake

富士山 - Fujisan - Mount Fuji.
Winter here in Tokyo is not nearly as cold as at home, thus hiking and sightseeing trips during January are definitley an option. Regions around Fujisan are even recommended during the colder months due to clear views of the mountain.
This weekend trip took us to Hakone, a lovely place famous for its hot springs, nature and views.
Once arrived, we walked part of the old Tōkaidō - the highway which linked Tokyo and Kyoto during the feudal Edo Period. Hakone used to be an important checkpoint along the Tōkaidō. This trail led us to Motohakone at Lake Ashinoko. There we visited the Hakone shrine and its torii in the lake. Other than than we crossed the lake by boat and visited the Ōwakudani (大涌谷), an area around an active crater emitting sulfurous fumes. We also visited the Open Air Museum and the Komagatake peak of mount Hakone.
To nature lovers I can definitely recommend Hakone!
Please enjoy the breathtaking views I managed to capture. I hope you have a great winter time too!
