Exploring the Japanese Alps

Ishikawa, Kanazawa/ Gifu, Ainokura and Takayama/ Nagano, Matsumoto

Typical farm house in Ainokura

The mountain side of Japan.
In this long weekend trip Kanazawa, Ainokura, Shirakawa, Takayama and Matsumoto were visited in a rountrip.
Visiting those beautiful places in the north-west of Tokyo gave me an insight in how different Japan can be from place to place.
Kanazawa is a coastal city offering an insight in how the Samurai lived and a garden famous for its beauty. Shirakawa and Ainokura are small towns in the mountains which are popular for their rustical historical farmhouses - the natives still live in those! Takayama is another mountain town with lovely onsens and ryokans. The last stop was in Matsumoto, to see the black castle. To me this black castle is extremely special. It is my favorite castle in Japan.
Please enjoy the pictures.
Warm regards
Fab
